Orchestral Experience

Neal Berntsen has had a remarkably varied orchestral career.  Upon completion of a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance from Northwestern University (under the tutelage of Vincent Cichowicz) he became a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago which enabled him to begin his studies with the legendary Adolph Herseth.  While in Chicago Mr. Berntsen became a member of The Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra and Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Sinfonietta.  Mr. Berntsen also performed as Principal Trumpet of the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony Orchestra and the Bamberg Sinfoniker (Germany).  Also while in Chicago, Mr. Berntsen performed, toured and recorded with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Currently a member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Principal Trumpet of the Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, Mr. Berntsen has also appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
