Roosevelt University

In 2016 Mr. Berntsen began serving on the faculty of Roosevelt University in Chicago. For 15 years Mr. Berntsen lived in Chicago and was able to immerse himself in the Chicago tradition of brass playing.  First, as a student at Northwestern University under the tutelage of Vincent Cichowicz-then through years of study with the great masters: Adolph Herseth and the great sages of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra brass section.  Ultimately, Mr. Berntsen served as a professional musician during the golden years of Chicago brass playing.  Mr. Berntsen was delighted to have the opportunity to return to Chicago and be a part of the rich and important musical heritage that The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University has provided for over 100 years.

At Roosevelt, Mr. Berntsen teaches lessons, coaches chamber music and gives master classes twice a month.
